When making my contents page i kept the same colour palette as my front cover so that they link and fit in with the theme of summer. I tried my colours in different places, for example i tried the title in pink and blue before deciding it would look best in yellow, i chose this so that it stands out as it is something i want my reader to look at first. I chose to put these images on the page so that it is obvious that the school is for both girls and boys as the front cover only has a male on it so it could confuse the reader into thinking the school was for boys. I kept my font as 'david' on this page aswell as the front cover as i like it and didnt think it would look good to change the font on this page as it might make it look as if it doesnt belong with the front cover. In my magazine i show that it is a multicultural school as i use models of different races and religions. I am happy with my contents page as i think it is attractive and would appeal to a sixth form audience and also it fits its purpose of informing the reader of which article is on what page.

This is my final front cover, i chose to have the title in the font 'david' which i have had as my font for all of my text so that it doesnt clash on the page, my title is bright yellow with a black outline so that it stands out against the other colours on the page, i also chose yellow because it links to the theme of summer because it is the colour of the sun. I decided to use the schools motto as my sub heading because it represents the school and what it stands for, i think my page looked better with it under the title because it makes the page look more full and interesting. I kept my colour pallete to a bright yellow, pale pink and duck egg blue because i thought these three colours would suit the summer theme and look good together, i played around with what colours to put where so that the parts of the page that need to stand out the most have the brighter more noticible colour and the parts you dont need to notice as much are in the paler colours, for example the title is bright and yellow. My image on the front is of Joel, a boy in my sixth form, he is dressed smart so that it is a good representation of what the school expects of their students. As it is a summer edition i have made sure that the sun is in the photo and luckily it is actually partly on joel, which i think looks good. I have included the date and a barcode like a normal magazine would but i have kept it plain and simple so that it doesn't take your attention away from the main parts of the magazine, e.g. the title and background image. I tried to add a graphic of flowers or the sun but it didnt look right as i thought it made the page look tacky. I think this is successful as it looks quite like a magazine and fits its purpose, if i was to do this again i would try to find a way to put more on the page, i think it is quite plain but then again it still is effective because of the colour.
I have put these three images on my contents page because they are all different, for example one if of a boy, one is of a girl and one is of a girl and a girl so it shows that the school is for both genders clearly. These images are on this page to make it more interesting and give a better appearance, The first image shows someone working, the second shows someone happy and not working and the last shows someone helping someone else so it shows the students have a healthy balance between school work, social lifes and helping others.

I will put this picture on my contents page as one of the three images on the right hand side of the page. This photo is significant because i wanted to illustrate that the school is targeted towards both genders as my other images are of a male. I chose her to wear this because it gives an example of what is expected of sixth form students uniform at beaverwood. Also the vibrant colours in her clothes reflects her mood which is happy at beaverwood.

This is my front cover with my image on it, i chose joel because i wanted to show that the school is both for girls and boys, the colours i used for the magazine are quite girly being pink, yellow and baby blue, so it could confuse the reader into thinking it was just for girls. I chose Joel to wear his navy stripey jumper because i wanted it to go with the front door and i didnt want too many colours in the image incase it clashed with the colour theme of my magazine. His clothes are smart and appropriate sixth form wear so this gives a good example to other sixthformers, also he is smiling so gives the impression the school is a happy and friendly environment. As the magazine is a summer edition i have made sure the light is shining on joel, because there is a plant infront of the sun shining on him it gives a shadow on him which is good because it stops the brightness being too much. you can also see the schools reception plaque so this connotes that it could be the front of the school. I like that you can see leaves on the right hand side, it add colour to the picture and also links to the theme of summer.

I have made the title bolder by increasing the thickness of the outline of the text and keeping it black to contrast against the yellow. This makes the title more effective and eye catching.
I added the same subheading from my front cover to this page because i think it makes the page look better and fills the gap under the title and the boxes of text and images underneath. i have made the text white with a black outline because i dont want to over use pink, blue or yellow.
I first tried this because it is the same colour scheme as the front cover as the colours are in the same places, such as the title is yellow and the background is pink. I like this but i dont think it stands out very well and might be too simular to the front cover.
I then tried making the background yellow, the title blue and the boxes for text and images pink but i think this is too bright and the background colour yellow takes over the whole page and would distract the reader from the information on the page.
I like this one best because its slightly different to the front cover as the back ground is blue, i think this looks better as the titles stands out being yellow against the blue and it also links to the theme of summer with the yellow against the blue which looks like the sun against the sky.

I tried this colour for my title with a pink border but have deicided it doesnt stand out, i dont think it is eye catching enough to attract a persons attention. If my target audience wasnt for a young audience it would be more suitable as younger people usually prefer brighter bolder things where as this is basic and simple.
I think this looks much better now that i have changed the colours of the text and made the outline of the title thicker, it is much more attractive and works with the summer theme as it is bright and has the colour yellow which links to summer as it is the colour of the sun.
I have tried this colour font as my season theme is summer i think a duck egg blue would suit that theme and make it obvious. I like this but i want my main colours to be blue, pink and yellow and if i have this colour as my title and pink or blue coloured text underneath for my article titles it might not be as bold or eyecatching as i want it to be. Taking this into account i decided to change the colour:
This is much more eye catching without being too much on the page, as the font is simple the colour can afford to be bright. I prefer this as it will stand out on the page against the text bellow which will be either in blue, pink of black.
I think that with a thicker black outline on the title will make it stand out more and look better on the page, i also changed the black subheading under it to a duck egg blue with a thin black outline to make it more interesting to look at and it will go with the text below of the rest of the page which will be the same.

This is the font i plan to use for my title and school motto, i chose this because it is not too dramatic and it is simple and easy to read. Also it works well with being a school magazine as schools have many different types of people with different interests and this doesnt just cater for one type of person it is flexible in the way that it works well for most people.
Contents
This is a school magazines contents page, it's basic and easy to read and understand as the text is bold and a simple font. i like that you can clearly see the difference between the main sections of the magazine to the pages with seperate titles, for example 'Societies' is in orange and bigger than 'Ballroom Dancing' which is smaller and in black font. To make this better i would add some graphics to the background so that it isn't as boring and unattractive, but on the other hand simple can be appealing to some target audiences. The image at the top of the page is from the front cover so it makes the front cover and contents page link. When designing my own magazine i will look at this to give me ideas that i can adapt to fit my own magazine.
I like this site because you can clearly see that it is a school building and it looks traditional and well kept, this gives off a good impression of the school. If i was to choose this site i would make sure that the sun is facing the front of the building so that it looks bright and colourful. I would make sure that there are no people or cars on the background of the photo to make your attention drawn to the model mainly.

I like this because it represents the school well as it makes it looks like a friendly environment as the deep yellow coloured lights look warm. It will be clear to the audience that my magazine fits its purpose. The site looks clean and tidy so represents the school well making it appeal to future students and make current students proud to be there.

I like this site because firstly it links to my target audience which i have decided to be sixth formers as this site is the sixth form block at the school. i like that there is lots of colour at this site, for example the yellow bits on the steps and the blue poles at the side of the steps, this makes the photo more attractive for a front cover. Also this site is more modern than the rest of the school which would appeal to sixth formers more than an old looking site. If i was to use this site i would make sue that the sun was behind the building just coming over the top of it because i like the effect of the sun rays coming down from the corner of the photo. i would either have both doors open or both shut rather than how they are in this photo so that the photo looks cemetrical. Leaving the doors open could give a welcoming feeling to the image, i will take this into account when deciding wether to close them or not.
